22 Of The Best Bars In Bali
FINNS Beach Club – Canggu
Poolside Bars & Party

Calling FINNS a bar doesn’t really do it justice. The beachfront venue is home to 14 bars, including two swim-up bars, so you can grab a cocktail or a beer without even getting out of the pool.
Choose a bar overlooking Berawa Beach, order straight to your daybed or cool off at one of the swim-up bars. There’s a huge choice of cocktails, beer, wines and spirits, along with FINNS’ own range of hard seltzers. Food is available throughout the venue too, covering everything from Indonesian and Japanese food to pizza, burgers, Mexican dishes and fresh seafood.
DJs play throughout the day, sunset brings a change of pace, and the party carries on into the night. If you’re looking for somewhere that combines a beach bar, pools, sunset cocktails and proper Bali nightlife, FINNS is an obvious place to start. It’s not known as the World’s Best Beach Club for no reason.
Note: there’s no entrance fee, but daybeds and cabanas require a minimum spend fee. It can, however, get busy, especially on weekends and in high season, so we recommend booking ahead.

Segno – Canggu
Serious Cocktails

Segno is run by Yutaka Nakashima, one of Bali’s better-known mixologists, and there’s a serious amount of attention put into every drink. Even the ice is carefully cut to control how it melts into your cocktail.
Start with the signature cocktail list, or move on to the premium selection if you fancy spending a little more. There are also bar snacks available if you plan on staying for a few rounds.
Segno isn’t about cheap drinks or a wild party. This is one for people who genuinely care about what’s going into their cocktail.

Black Sand Brewery – Canggu
Craft Beer Brewery & Bar

Black Sand started with founder Mattia experimenting with beer recipes at home before opening the brewery in 2019. Today, there’s a decent selection on tap, including IPA, pilsner, Kölsch, rice lager, pale ale and some more unusual seasonal brews.
If you’re only trying one, the Black Sand IPA is a good place to start. It’s a 6.3% American-style IPA with plenty of fruity and citrus flavours, balanced with enough bitterness. It also picked up a silver medal at the Asia Beer Championship.
The food is pretty good here too, and there’s usually something happening during the week, from live music to BBQ nights and drinks promotions. They’ve also recently opened Black Sand Studio, a dedicated space for recording and live sessions.

Rock Bar @ Ayana – Jimbaran
Iconic Sunset Bar

Rock Bar is built along 270 metres of cliffside at AYANA Bali, with the Indian Ocean directly below and seven different seating areas to choose from, and is one of Bali’s best sunset bars. You’ll need to arrive before golden hour if you want to see what all the fuss is about.
The current signature cocktail menu is based around the elements of earth, water, fire and air. Try Rock My World, made with Nusa Cana rum, sweet purple potato, rice and coconut, or Solflame if you prefer something stronger and spicy.
It isn’t cheap, and outside visitors should expect a minimum spend, which varies depending on seating, but those ocean views are worth the money. This one’s a great option if you’re looking for a romantic date night, rather than drinks with the crew.

Night Rooster – Ubud
Creative Cocktail Bar

Night Rooster comes from the team behind Locavore NXT, with bartenders Raka and Esy creating cocktails around Indonesian folk tales and supernatural stories. Local ingredients feature heavily, and the team makes plenty of its own concoctions rather than relying entirely on what comes out of a bottle.
The cocktails can get pretty unusual. Moonbeam Lover, for example, combines sandat-flower-infused arak and bourbon with house-made marigold leaf vermouth and calamansi cordial. There’s also an Eccentric Eats menu of bar snacks to go alongside the drinks.

Double-Six Rooftop Bar – Seminyak
Rooftop Bar & Sunset Views

Double-Six Rooftop covers a massive 1,700 square metres on top of the Double-Six Luxury Hotel, with 180-degree views across the Indian Ocean and Double Six Beach. There are sunken daybeds, private areas and the bar’s unusual floating pods, which are a pretty good place to settle in before sunset.
Cocktails range from classics like Mai Tais and Negronis to locally inspired drinks, and there’s food available if you’re staying for the evening. The DJ provides the soundtrack, while the large open-air setup means things can get much livelier later on.
It’s smart casual here, so this is one Bali bar where you might want to change out of your beach gear first, but easily one of the best sunset spots on the island and worth the effort.

Gracie Kelly’s Irish Pub – Kuta
Irish Craic & Live Music

Gracie Kelly’s lays claim to being the first Irish pub in Bali, and it certainly looks the part. Inside, there are cosy booths, vintage Guinness ads and a proper pub bar pouring Guinness, local beers and even Kilkenny on draught, which is still a rare treat on this side of the world.
The food sticks firmly to pub territory, with beef and Guinness pie, shepherd’s pie, bangers and mash, Irish stew and fish and chips among the options.
There’s live music every night from 8 pm, while the big screens show major sporting events including football, rugby, AFL, F1 and cricket.

The Shady Pig – Canggu
Speakeasy Style Bar

The Shady Pig takes its inspiration from 1920s Birmingham and the world of bootlegging, with a hidden entrance and plenty of dark wood, vintage furniture and bartenders dressed to match. It opened in 2020 and was one of the earlier bars to bring the full speakeasy concept to Bali.
The cocktails are suitably experimental. The team uses techniques including distillation, fermentation and barrel ageing, with signatures such as The Chester, made with whiskey, port, cherry distillate, bitters and smoked cinnamon. There’s also a barrel-aged Negroni and the rum-based Sexy Colada.
Food has become a bigger part of The Shady Pig too, with dishes designed to pair with the cocktails. Later on, the atmosphere changes considerably, with DJs taking over from around 11 pm.

Tree Bar @ Maya Sanur
Beachfront Bar

Tree Bar sits right on the beachfront at Maya Sanur, next to the resort’s infinity pool and overlooking the sea. It’s open throughout the day, but late afternoon makes the most sense for drinks, especially with happy hour running from 5 pm to 7 pm.
Cocktails are pretty popular here, of course, alongside beer and wine, while the food has a Mediterranean influence. If you fancy the pool and bar vibe but not the booze, there’s a nice mocktail selection here too, also great for kids if you’re travelling with family.
There’s live music every evening from 6 pm, with everything from saxophone and violin to reggae, rock and Latin music depending on the night.
It’s a considerably more relaxed beachfront bar than most of our Canggu picks, and a good reason to stop for a drink if you’re staying in Sanur.

The Blue Door – Ubud
Restaurant, Bar & Club

The Blue Door is really two venues in one: restaurant and bar by day, before things get considerably livelier later on.
Out front, the open-air Beer Garden has more than 15 local and international beers, cocktails, pub-style food, big screens showing live sport and live bands every night. Happy hour runs all the way through to 7 pm too.
Later on, things move behind the actual blue door to the Club Lounge, where DJs play from 9 pm until late. The music changes throughout the week, covering everything from Latin house and hip-hop to Afrobeats, dancehall and tech house.
It’s one of the better options in Ubud if you want to start with food and a few beers, then stay out considerably later than you planned.

The Bench Sports Bar – Canggu
Beer, Food & Live Sport

The Bench is built for watching sport, with screens throughout the bar showing everything from football and rugby to UFC, AFL and NBA. They open earlier at weekends too, which comes in handy when the time difference means your game starts at breakfast rather than over a few evening beers.
Food is American-style sports bar stuff, so expect burgers, wings and other easy options to eat while you’re watching. There’s tap beer, cocktails and a pool table too, and the place can get pretty lively when one of the major sporting events is on.

TELU Bar @ Four Seasons Resort – Jimbaran
Indonesian Cocktails & Arak

TELU is an open-air cocktail bar built entirely from repurposed and upcycled materials, with its own herb garden and arak cellar. The name means “three” in Balinese, reflected in three groups of cocktails supporting local environmental and social projects.
Arak gets some particularly interesting treatment here. The Subak Negroni mixes strawberry-infused arak with Campari, banana skin and tomato leaf vermouth, while Pasang Surut uses snake fruit arak, tangerine, kemangi and sea salt foam.
There are some very good alcohol-free options too, including house-made non-alcoholic gin and traditional jamu.

White Rabbit Cocktail Bar – Uluwatu
Trendy Cocktail Lounge

White Rabbit was opened by two friends from London and Los Angeles who wanted to bring the kind of cocktail bars they loved back home to Uluwatu. It’s a smart, chic, low-lit place, with plenty of seating around the bar if you want to watch the drinks being made.
Cocktails are obviously the focus, but whisky and rum drinkers are particularly well looked after. White Rabbit claims one of the largest whisky and rum bottle collections in Bali, with a pretty impressive display behind the bar.
It doesn’t open until the evening and carries on until late, so this is somewhere for proper after-dinner drinks rather than an afternoon beer.
Where Is It? Jl. Labuansait, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

BARacuda Beach Bar – Amed
Old-School Beach Bar

BARacuda is somewhere between a hostel bar and a very basic beach club, with daybeds right on the sand and direct access to the sea. There’s no pool or fancy setup here, and that’s really part of the appeal. It has the kind of old-school Bali beach bar feel that’s becoming harder to find.
Food and drinks are cheap compared with the big beach venues down south, and there’s no minimum spend or entrance fee. Grab a drink, claim a daybed if there’s one free and go for a swim when you get too hot.
You probably wouldn’t travel all the way to Amed just for BARacuda, but if you’re already here for the diving, snorkelling or a few quiet days by the sea, it’s well worth stopping by.

Friends Bar – Canggu
Lively Drinks

Friends Bar keeps things pretty simple, with cocktails, cold beer and a relaxed setup built around actually hanging out with people. There’s a pool table, darts and card games, while the dim lighting and comfortable seating give it more of a neighbourhood bar feel than a polished Canggu cocktail lounge.
Happy hour runs from 5 pm to 7 pm daily, with discounted cocktails, draught Heineken and wine. Fridays and Saturdays run much later, so things can get considerably livelier as the evening goes on.

SOORA @ Ayodya Resort – Nusa Dua
Speakeasy Bar

SOORA is hidden away inside Ayodya Resort, complete with a secret entrance, three modular bars, its own tincture lab and a herb garden used for the drinks. The focus is firmly on plant-based cocktails and Indonesian ingredients.
There’s a fun bespoke element too. Pick a spirit, herb and tincture and the bartender will create something around your choices, rather than simply ordering from a standard cocktail list. It stays open until 2 am, making it one of Nusa Dua’s more interesting late-night bars.

The Orchard Bar – Seminyak
Bar, Restaurant & Live Music

The Orchard has a bit of a British gastropub feel, with live music a big part of what they do. Bands play regularly, covering everything from reggae and rock to acoustic sets, and the relatively small venue means you’re never too far from the stage.
There’s a great selection of beers, including Guinness, San Miguel, Heineken and Bintang on draught, plus cocktails, wine and spirits. The food is suitably pub-like too, and they’re particularly well known for their Sunday roasts.

Whisper Cove – Ubud
Hidden Speakeasy Cocktail Vibes

Whisper Cove is hidden above Maluku Restaurant, with an old wooden door and staircase leading into a 1930s-inspired speakeasy filled with dark wood, velvet and low lighting.
The cocktail menu changes with the seasons and gets pretty creative. Current drinks include Warisan, mixing peppercorn-infused gin with Balinese fruit and local spices, and Sweet Escape, a twist on the Espresso Martini using spiced rum, Kintamani coffee, soybean and taro. There are classics and a decent mocktail selection too.

Ji Terrace – Canggu
Japanese Fusion, Fine Wines & Sake

Ji Terrace spreads across the upper two floors of Ji Restaurant, with an open-air rooftop and 180-degree views across Canggu Beach. The long teak bar faces the ocean, so this is another one that’s particularly good around sunset.
Cocktails have a strong Asian influence, using local fruits, flowers, spices and leaves. Coco Sexo is the showy signature, served with cachaca, coconut, vanilla and passion fruit, while Tugu Gin & Tea uses gin infused with Javanese tea and herbs.
There’s also a good selection of wine and sake, plus sushi and Japanese fusion food if you want to turn those sunset drinks into dinner.
Where Is It? Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong, Canggu, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

Casablanca – Sanur
Live Music & Nightlife

Casablanca has been part of Sanur’s nightlife since 2012, offering a different side to Bali’s nightlife than the big clubs and late-night venues further south. Live bands play six nights a week, covering indie and classic rock, pop and plenty of familiar crowd favourites.
There’s a proper dance floor once things get going, plus cocktails, beer and daily drinks promotions. Happy hour runs from 5 pm to 8 pm Monday to Thursday, while Friday’s Pressure Hour includes an all-you-can-drink deal for an hour.
Where Is It? Jl. Danau Tamblingan No.120, Sanur, Denpasar Selatan, Kota Denpasar, Bali 80223

Poco Lounge Bar – Lovina
Drinks & Laid-Back Lovina Vibes

Poco Lounge Bar is a bit of a wild card on our list, but we wanted something from Bali’s quieter north coast. It’s a straightforward local bar with cocktails, ice-cold beer, bar snacks and live music once evening rolls around.
There’s a dance floor too, and things can get surprisingly lively later at night. The cocktail list sticks mostly to familiar favourites, along with a few local creations such as the rum-based Lovina Lovina.
Nothing fancy, just a fun little Lovina bar for a few drinks and some live music.

Gabet’s Pub – Uluwatu
Cold Beer, Sports & Pub Grub

Gabet’s is a proper European-style pub spread across two floors, with a beer garden, music every night and big screens showing football, F1, UFC, rugby and other major sports. There’s also pool, darts, air hockey and a private karaoke room.
Guinness is available on draught alongside Bintang and a selection of other beers, while the food covers burgers, steaks, seafood and plenty of familiar pub grub.
Heading over to Nusa Lembongan? Gabet’s also has a second location in Jungutbatu, so you can still get your pub fix if you’re spending a few days over there.

FAQs
Where Is The Best Nightlife In Bali?
Canggu and Seminyak have two of the biggest nightlife scenes in Bali, with everything from casual pubs and cocktail bars to beach clubs and late-night bars. Uluwatu is another great choice, particularly for sunset drinks and parties overlooking the ocean.
You’ll find nightlife elsewhere on the island too, including some excellent cocktail bars and live music venues in Ubud.
Are There Any Speakeasy Bars In Bali?
Yes. Bali has a growing collection of speakeasies and hidden cocktail bars, particularly around Canggu and Seminyak.
Some go all-in on the speakeasy concept with concealed entrances and intimate interiors, while others simply offer the quieter atmosphere, creative cocktail list and skilled bartenders associated with a speakeasy-style bar.
Do Bars In Bali Have A Dress Code?
Most bars in Bali have a fairly relaxed dress code, particularly casual pubs, beach bars and places around Canggu. Shorts and a T-shirt are usually fine, although arriving straight from the beach in swimwear might not be.
Upscale rooftop bars, hotel bars and lounges can be a little smarter, so it’s always best to check the dress code before heading somewhere special.
Do I Need To Book Bars In Bali?
Usually not. You can walk into most pubs and casual bars without booking, although popular rooftop and sunset bars can get busy in the late afternoon.
If you want a particular table, ocean views or somewhere to watch the sunset, it’s always best to book ahead or arrive early. Some venues may also have a minimum spend for premium tables or seating areas.
What Alcohol Should I Avoid In Bali?
Stick to reputable bars, restaurants and licensed shops when buying alcohol in Bali. Avoid suspiciously cheap spirits and unlabelled or homemade alcohol from unknown sources, as illegally produced alcohol can contain dangerous levels of methanol.
That doesn’t mean you need to avoid local arak altogether. Properly produced and commercially sold arak is widely available, including at some of Bali’s best cocktail bars.
What’s The Best Bar In Canggu?
FINNS Beach Club is our top pick for a bar in Canggu. It’s not just one bar either, with 14 different bars spread across the venue, including two swim-up bars.
That gives you plenty of options depending on whether you want a few cocktails by the pool, drinks overlooking the beach, or somewhere to settle in as the DJs turn things up and the party gets going.
What Is Arak And Where Can I Try It In Bali?
Arak is a traditional Indonesian spirit, with Balinese arak commonly distilled from fermented coconut palm sap or other locally available ingredients.
You’ll find it served across Bali, but a good cocktail bar is an excellent place to try it for the first time. Many bartenders now use locally produced arak in signature cocktails, giving you a chance to sip Bali’s traditional spirit in a rather more refined form.
Final Thoughts On The Best Bars, Bali
Bali has a seriously good bar scene, from laid-back pubs and craft beer to rooftop drinks, cocktail bars and huge nights out.
Whatever you’re looking for, we hope this guide helps you find a few great places for a drink during your time in Bali.
